The multipurpose icebreaker tug “Nevskaya Zastava” on the eve of winter underwent a planned inter-navigation repair, as will as another classification survey. Experts have checked the technical condition and confirmed the class of the vessel.
“Nevskaya Zastava” was designed by order of the Committee for Nature Management especially for St. Petersburg, taking into account the peculiarities of the city. The vessel has a special lifting and lowering structure of the wheelhouse, which allows it to pass under the bridges on the Neva without wiring. In winter, the icebreaker prevents flooding of the coastal area, since ice accumulation leads to a decrease in the channel capacity and an increase in the water level. In the event of such “jamming” phenomena, the tug breaks through the channel, normalizes the flow and lowers the water level.
Fluidmecanica has supplied the anchor towing windlass with Escort system and Russian River Register (RRR) approval.
