Fluidmecanica has designed, manufactured and supplied the deck machinery for 17 tugboats that have being built at the Bangladesh Navy Shipyard, the 100-year-old Dockyard and Engineering Works shipyard.

Robert Allan designed the tugs, which will be used by the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority. They will operate mainly in fresh water on the Padma, Meghna, and Yamuna rivers, which cross this former colony.

The total of the 17 tugs is divided into:

• 10 tugs 7 Ton
• 5 tugs 12 tons
• 2 tugs 25 tons

The scope of the contract is the manufacture of:

• Towing winches
• Anchor winches
• Towing hooks
• Winches
• Steering gears

for each one of the 17 tugboats that will operate for the service of the armed forces fleet.

All of them has been approved and certified by Lloyd’s Register.
