{"id":2270,"date":"2021-12-01T11:31:51","date_gmt":"2021-12-01T11:31:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fluidmecanica.com\/?p=2270"},"modified":"2021-12-01T11:31:51","modified_gmt":"2021-12-01T11:31:51","slug":"the-22220-series-lead-icebreaker-arktika-begins-acceptance-trials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fluidmecanica.com\/en\/2021\/12\/01\/the-22220-series-lead-icebreaker-arktika-begins-acceptance-trials\/","title":{"rendered":"THE 22220 SERIES LEAD ICEBREAKER &#8220;ARKTIKA&#8221; BEGINS ACCEPTANCE TRIALS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Arktika icebreaker, lead vessel of 22220 series of multipurpose nuclear-powered icebreakers set sail from the basin of Baltic Shipyard (Baltiyskiy Zavod, part of USC) and headed for the Gulf of Finland where it will undergo acceptance trials.<\/p>\n<p>Upon the sea trials completion the nuclear-powered &#8220;Arktika&#8221; will enter service escorting commercial ships on the Northern Sea Route (NSR, Sevmorput).<\/p>\n<p>The multipurpose nuclear icebreaker &#8220;Arktika&#8221; is the lead ship of Project 22220, being built at Baltiyskiy Zavod. There are presently four icebreakers of the Arktika class (Project 22220) at different stages of construction at Baltic Shipyard, namely \u201cSibir\u201d, \u201cUral\u201d, \u201cYakutia\u201d and \u201cChukotka\u201d. Multipurpose nuclear-powered icebreakers of Project 22220 ships are the world\u2019s largest and most powerful icebreaking ships. Their key task is to ensure year-round navigation in the western Arctic.
